The Grimaldi Network · Personal Surface

The person behind the engineering.

I'm Vincenzo Grimaldi — an electrical engineer in Frankfurt working on the digitalisation of high-voltage rail infrastructure, and the builder of the Grimaldi Network. This is the personal surface: life, travel, and the long arc of the work, in plain words rather than datasheets.

About

One life, three surfaces

By day I digitise high-voltage traction assets for German rail. Around that sits everything else: software and AI systems, hardware builds, two book manuscripts in progress, and the places in between. Each surface of the network holds one part of it — this one holds the person.

Two manuscripts in progress

Long-form work on energy systems and the future of compute — the ideas behind the engineering, argued at book length.

The long arc

How the projects, the books and the network came to be — the record, kept honestly, over the years.

The arc

The journey so far

  1. 2025

    RWTH Aachen

    M.Sc. thesis: a cross-domain CIM–ThreMA ontology with reinforcement-learning security agents — now a live public simulator.

  2. 2024–

    Frankfurt · DB InfraGO

Digitising high-voltage railway traction assets: IT/OT convergence and security governance for critical infrastructure.

  3. 2026

    The Grimaldi Network

Three domains, one identity, four languages — the portfolio, the hardware lab and this page, shipped and kept consistent.

  4. Now

    Two manuscripts

Long-form writing on energy sovereignty and the future of compute — in revision, claim by claim.

The books

Two manuscripts — with public receipts

Long-form writing held to the same standard as the engineering: every load-bearing claim gets a proof. The Renewables Migration ships with a public proof-engine repository per chapter — runnable code behind the numbers.

The Renewables Migration

Germany traded fuel imports for hardware imports — the €-trillion receipt, the physics of 50 Hz, and what it takes to give the grid a brain. In revision, claim by claim.

The Orbital AI Compute Roadmap

The terrestrial trilemma of AI compute — inertia, copper, heat — and the honest case for what comes after. In revision.

Built for real businesses

The work that pays its way

Alongside the network I build and run production platforms for real companies — shipped, deployed, and maintained.

B2B · Lima

Plastilonas Peruanas SAC

B2B commerce platform for a Lima industrial-textiles manufacturer: 313 pages, four-language search surfaces, 600+ invariant tests that break the build on unverifiable claims.

Flooring · Canada

Ecowoods

Full-stack job-management platform for hardwood flooring — React Native app, FastAPI backend, admin dashboard, Docker deployment.

What I'm doing now

Engineering the grid

Digitalisation of high-voltage railway traction assets in Frankfurt — IT/OT convergence and security governance for critical infrastructure.

Building the network

Three domains, one identity, four languages — the portfolio, the hardware lab and this page, kept consistent and continuously shipped.

Writing the books

Two manuscripts in revision, on energy sovereignty and on where compute goes next — being rewritten the hard way: claim by claim.
